Did you know that authentic funnelbeakers were found in the dolmen in our village (Diever) here in Drenthe? Made 5000 years ago by the Funnelbeaker people who lived in this region at the time. Naturally beautiful! They decorated their funnelbeakers with grooves and lines, and I have done the same.
Thrown from iron-rich red clay, neatly finished the next day, and decorated along the top rim with a very fine pattern, just as they traditionally did. The pattern subtly shows through the greenish-grey glaze with which I glazed the mug. The inside is finished with a transparent, food-safe glaze.
