Ceramics firing service Drenthe

Do you want to have your own ceramics fired in Drenthe? You can do so at my ceramics firing service in Diever. Are you working with ceramics at home, but don't have access to your own kiln? Then you can use the space in my ceramics kiln, a top-loader with a capacity of 130 liters. With my firing service, I will ensure your work is fired. This can be for as little as one piece, but you can also reserve an entire kiln shelf. Much cheaper than buying your own kiln!

1020°C - Bisque firing

Prices are for private individuals who do not own a kiln. Prices for commercial use of my kiln differ; please contact me for a suitable quote.

Important to know about my firing service

Kiln shelves

  • Bases must be free of glaze.
  • Do you have glaze that runs? Then also the bottom centimeter must be free of glaze.
  • Do you want to fire at 1220 degrees? Then you must be sure that you are using stoneware clay, even if you bought bisque.
  • If your glaze has run onto my kiln shelves or if you have submitted low-fire clay for a stoneware firing? And if my kiln shelves are irreparably damaged as a result, I will have to charge for a new kiln shelf. 

Dimensions

  • My kiln shelf has a diameter of 52 centimeters, the kiln has an internal height of 40 centimeters.
  • The price per kiln shelf is for a height of 10 cm. If you have a full kiln shelf with flat work (lower than 5 cm), the price is halved; if you have taller work (between 10-15 cm), the price is multiplied by 1.5, etc.

Drop-off, pick-up, and payment

  • Drop-off and pick-up can be arranged by appointment via WhatsApp (06-51485654).
  • Payment can be made via a payment link or by card at the location.
  • When you bring your work, I will give an indication of when it will be ready for pick-up. Please note: this is not a guarantee and no rights can be derived from it.

Other

  • Prices are based on the use of your own materials.
  • I always load and unload my kiln myself for this firing service. I assess pieces before they go into the kiln. They must meet the following conditions:
    • Completely bone dry for bisque firing
    • Hollow inside and, if necessary, provided with an air hole
    • Clay must be well prepared and wedged
    • Pieces must have an unglazed base
    • Up to 1060, stilts are possible
    • No stilts for glaze firing at 1220
    • Glaze firing only on bisque-fired work
    • Use appropriate glaze for the desired temperature
    • Use appropriate clay for the desired temperature
  • Due to energy prices, I only fire a full kiln.
  • If your piece breaks during firing, I still have to charge firing costs for the firing service.
  • Many things can go wrong with ceramics at various stages. I am, of course, always very careful with your work, but if something goes wrong before, during, or after firing, I cannot be held liable for any damage to the piece.
