Portfolio
Below is a small selection of projects from my portfolio.
I started with ceramics in September 2019. From April 2020, I have my own pottery wheel at home. Naturally, the work in my portfolio has changed considerably since then, both technically and in appearance. I have tried out many decoration techniques, glazes, and forms to gradually move towards my own style.
The work you see in my ceramics portfolio was part of my learning process. I make everything with a lot of love and attention. I hope you can see that reflected in my work! With each piece, I learn a little more, and I am still developing in the field of ceramics.
Decorated dish
Art Deco
I threw this bowl from red clay. After throwing, I carved out the pattern with a knife. The bowl is glazed with a blue-green glaze.
Double-walled bowl
Rose
This double-walled bowl was a project for the three-year ceramics course. I built the bowl by hand and carved out the pattern. I colored the inside orange with an engobe. Over that, a transparent glaze and a white glaze on the outside.
series built from blocks
Thames
One of my exam assignments: a series of blocks that together reflect the pattern of the River Thames. Constructed from slices.
object from sheet metal
Kathedraal
An exam piece made of slabs, where the holes have been melted shut with glaze, thus still allowing light to pass through.
Hollow sphere with ornaments
Puffins
A hand-formed hollow sphere from which I cut out the map of Scotland. Then I mounted basalt blocks and puffins inside the sphere. Finished with Northern Lights glaze.
redware mug
Highland Cow
One of the variations of the mugs with a Scottish Highlander. These mugs are without a handle; I also made them with a handle.
Unique lamp
Hidden
In this large examination object, three pentagonal blocks can be seen throughout the pattern, which are ceramically attached to the inside of this lamp. At the bottom is an LED strip that can illuminate the inside.
Pitcher
Exam object Can
An exam piece of a pouring jug with a speckled matte glaze and a slightly shrinking white glaze.
Come
Exam object Come
The bowl that belongs to the matching jug, as a combination. An examination object for thrown form more than 25 centimetres wide.
Tea set
Verlof
A tea set consisting of six small cups, a teapot with a warmer, a milk jug, and a sugar bowl. One of the exam assignments.
Birth mug
Nora
A birth mug based on Nora's birth announcement card. A small toucan placed in the hollow of the mug.
Vase
Art Deco
I engraved this small flower vase with an Art Deco pattern and, after the glaze firing, finished it with two bands of gold luster, one at the bottom and one at the top.
Ceramic box
Books
An exam assignment for a box that had to contain multiple compartments. The bottom book has a drawer that can be pulled out with the spring. The top book can be lifted entirely, revealing the opening in the middle book. And the top book has a hinged lid.
House number
Hendriks
House number sign made of red clay and a green glaze. White glazed letters.
Board
Wonen aan de gracht
A plate made as part of my final exam. Thrown from red-firing clay, fired at earthenware temperature. Decoration made with sgraffito and with slip trailing.
small cup
Art Deco
A small cup with a cut pattern inspired by the Art Deco period.
sugar pot, milk jug and spoon holder
Blue
A collection of a sugar pot, creamer, and spoon holder. Made to order.
Sugar bowl and milk jug
Gold
Commissioned, a sugar bowl and milk jug with a blue glaze and a gold lustre section.
decorative plate

A decorative plate commissioned for a KLM retirement.
